NAI Science Disciplines

The following charts and tables show the distribution of scientific disciplines within the NAI. The data is current as of May 10, 2002. 375 NAI members have reported their disciplines to NAI Central, out of a total membership of 740. Members were given flexibility in specifying their disciplines so the original data includes many more categories than shown below. To create this summary, the originally reported disciplines were placed into one of the categories shown below. The mapping of the original data into the summary categories is available in the downloadable Excel file posted on this page.

Note: The numbers in the charts below are higher than 375 because 1) some people are on more than one team and 2) some people reported more than one discipline. In the graph and table showing breakdown by team, we counted each of these instances as a separate entry. In the graph and table showing the numbers for NAI as a whole, we counted each person just once (eliminating duplicate entries if they are on more than one team but reporting multiple disciplines if they identified more than one).
