bullet my son is a junior in high school and he loves everything about life in space. he has decided to major in astrobiology and ultimately receive his doctorate in astrobiology. his goal is to become an astronaut . we live in new jersey and my question to you is, what university would you recommend in the n.j. area that is nasa affiliated.
It is great that your son is interested in astrobiology. Pennsylvania State University has an excellent astrobiology program, although at the undergraduate level a great many universities offer the courses needed by an aspiring astrobiologist, which involve studying both a physical science an a biol... bullet I'm doing a school project and would like a response for this ASAP. I need to have a printout showing where there are current asrtobiologist openings. I've checked over 40 jobs searches and such and I haven't found anything. I was wondering if you could help me out by letting me know where astrobiologists work. Possibly names of Corps. if you know any or even where to find these jobs or what to search would be greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately I can't help you. The problem is that even where a job involves astrobiology research, it may not be advertised or listed as "astrobiology" This is because there are no university departments of astrobiology, and in general academic science positions are filled within tradition... bullet Hi, Am a 3rd Sem M.Sc applied genetcs student. Am interested in Astrobiology. What are the requirements i need to meet if i plan to take up a career in astrobiology.
Applied genetics is a good subject to start with, but to become an astrobiologist you will also need to study one of the physical sciences, such geology or astronomy or chemistry. This multidisciplinary approach sets astrobiology off from most other science disciplines. If you will be looking for an... Click here for more.
bullet i am a current freshman attending university in newfoundland canada. It is my ultimate dream to work as an astrobiologist with NASA one day.. i truly believe this is my calling and am ecstatic there is actually an institution in existance. i was just wondering, how realistic are my expectations? coming from newfoundland and all.. also, i am a female.. but if that effected my chances of working with NASA, id advise you get out of the 18th century before you sent anyone else into space to discover answers about the future.
I am glad that you want to be an astrobiologist, and certainly there is nothing wrong with being from Newfoundland. However, you should not limit your aspirations to working for NASA. The great majority of astrobiologists are not NASA employees but work in academia. Some of them receive NASA grants,... Click here for more.

I'm sorry but I can't make our your question. If you are asking what are the qualifications for a career in astrobiology, you will find many answers to this question in the Ask an Astrobiologist archive. A few weeks ago, for example, I posted this: The main requirement for a career in astrobiology i... Click here for more.
bullet Hi, my name is Brad i am 16, im a student athlete sophmore in high school, I know a lot about planets, stars, nebulas galaxies etc. And astrobiology is really the only thing that i (want to do) so i was wondering what classes to take.
I am pleased that you want to be an astrobiologist. Like any research scientist, astrobiologists need a lot of training. In fact, the requirements are somewhat higher for astrobiology students, since they must learn about both physical science (astronomy, geology, etc.) and biological science (bioch... bullet I am an upcoming college student in California, and I was wondering what would be the best opportunities here for pursuing a career in astrobiology? I know a double major in biology and chemistry would suffice, but I want to know how you incorporate astronomy into college as well. Also, being a woman, I wanted to know a general consensus on how many women are in the field.

and

Would a double major in biochemistry and astrophysics suffice to be an astrobiologist?
The main requirement for a career in astrobiology is intense interest in the subject. Most astrobiologists today are self taught. But for the next generation, it is definitely advantageous to follow a double major, studying one biological science and one physical science. Certainly biochemistry and ... Click here for more.
bullet I think you should have encouraged the 14 year old from Britain about mankind's capability to make new discoveries that will change our power in and over the universe. Sure, some things are truly impossible, but the human mind is capable of discovering principles and solving many problems that were thought 'impossible'. I say, keep the questions toward inter-galaxtic travel open, to future genius', perhaps of the sort of the 14 year old inquisitive mind. Thanks.
Your point is a good one. I can't predict the future, and I don't want to discourage any young scientist. But I also want to be realistic. The question you refer to was about human flights to another star system within "our lifetimes", and I think the answer to that must be "no". I doubt whether hum... Click here for more.
bullet I want to work with NASA. Presently I an in eleventh class in India. Give me information about NASA Exam.
There is no "NASA Exam". That is not the way we usually fill positions in the United States. You might want to consider working for the Indian space program. David Morrison

bullet hi!, my name is gabriela and I'm from Mexico. I would like to know how and were can I study Astrobiology or astronomy and planetary science or something related to that.
There is a very good astrobiology program at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City. Your best contact there is probably the Director of the program, Professor Antonio Lazcano. His research includes study of the origin and early evolution of life, with particular interest...
