Malcolm Walter (Via telecon) The ACA is one of a number of partners in the newly formed Australian Space Network, which includes all areas of space research and activities (including but not limited to astrobiology). Core support from the Anglo Australian Observatory, the Australian National Telescope Facility, CSIRO, Macquarie University, and has promises of support from at least one regional government, New South Wales. All types of organizations are participating, including commercial, academic, non-profit enterprises. NAI Astrobiology Drilling Program (ADP) session at AbSciCon on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 in the afternoon. Session will address drilling on other planetary surfaces as well as on Earth. Planned outcome of session is to generate a 3-5 page document on this subject. Subsurface Life Group scheduled an open meeting to be held at Ames after AbSciCon on Friday, April 2. Led by NAI Team PI Bruce Jakosky. First Remote Astrobiology Dialouges (RAD) video/telecon in collaboration with the Centro de Astrobiologia held December 12, 2003. Approximately 20 participants. Web resource of background information, supporting slides and documents as well has a forum for further dialogue has been established for the group. R. Grymes visiting Madrid the 1st 2 weeks in March to collaborate with the CAB on the development of ideas and themes from the RADs The NAI supported an astrobiology graduate student conference hosted at the University of Arizona. One outcome from the conference was the desire to form an international professional network. Note: Group interested in pursing this and want to further discuss, perhaps at AbSciCon in March. FAO slides drafted on FAO student opportunities/programs so that members can address the FAO consistently. Members asked to review the slides, make recommendations, via email.
