We invite Members of the NASA Astrobiology Institute and its partners to participate in the NAI 2005 Meeting through oral presentations, a series of themed poster sessions, Focus Group discussions and informal meeting time. The meeting will be hosted by the University of Colorado, Boulder, and held at the Millennium Harvest House Hotel during April 10-14, 2005. Key areas of strength in the Institute will be featured, such as highlights from the outcomes of the Fall 2003 NAI Retreat as well as emerging technologies, contributions to NASA missions and groundbreaking discoveries in astrobiology.
Abstract submission and conference registration is open to members of the current NAI Teams, NAI Focus Groups, NAI International Partners or as an Invited Guest. Those submitting abstracts will need to identify how they are affiliated with the NAI and will be asked to name a particular meeting theme along with several key words. This information will be used to create a special issue of the journal Astrobiology available at the conference containing the accepted abstracts.
In a break from past practice, there will be no parallel sessions at NAI 2005. All sessions will begin with an Invited Lead Speaker who will be charged with outlining the linkages among the presentations and between the sub-themes of each session, as well as direct members to the themed poster sessions. Lead Talks are followed by oral presentations selected from the contributed abstracts for that particular theme. The poster sessions are the primary medium of scientific communication at NAI 2005; exclusive time has been set aside each afternoon for this important component of the meeting.
A special set of posters will be presented by the current 16 NAI Teams, as well as by our International Partners and Focus/Working Groups. These posters will provide an overview of the work being conducted by these groups and are to be displayed throughout the meeting. NAI 2005 - by, for, and about, the NASA Astrobiology Institute.
Please see the Meeting Program for further details.
Rooms will be available for spontaneous breakout discussion sessions by reserving them at the registration site. Each room will have a dry erase whiteboard, table and chairs.
Focus Group meetings are in the evenings between 6:00-9:00 pm. A detailed focus group schedule will be posted as it becomes available. |
