General Posters: Those NOT in Student Poster Competition

Procedure & Schedule

1. Abstract, Meeting Theme, and Presentation Type

a. When submitting your abstract, select its related Meeting Theme and your preferred presentation mode (Poster Presentation / Oral Presentation).
b. If you select Oral Presentation, your abstract will be reviewed by the Program Organizing Committee for a decision whether your presentation is a talk or a poster.
c. You will be notified in February if your presentation is a talk or a poster.
d. When you submit your abstract Ö

  • Its related meeting theme determines your talk/poster display day.
  • Your abstract is assigned a number when its submission is completed.
  • WRITE DOWN this abstract number for future use. It identifies your abstract and is also used as your poster number for your poster display location within its meeting poster theme area.

2. Meeting Themes & Presentation Days

There are 7 possible meeting themes for presentations (either poster or talk). This theme determines what meeting day you are a poster presenter. See schedules for putting up posters in section 3. below and daily theme schedule below:

Monday Poster Session

1. Formation & Evolution of Planetary Systems
2. Extrasolar Planets

Also EPO / Communicating Astrobiology Related to Themes Above

Tuesday Poster Session

3. Origins of Life
4. Future Technologies, Exploration, and Societal Issues

Also EPO / Communicating Astrobiology Related to Themes Above

Wednesday Poster Session

NOTE: Put up ALL Wednesday & Thursday theme group posters on Wednesday

Wednesday Themes

5. Evolution of Life
6. Tracing Life

Thursday Theme

7. Evolution in the Solar System

Also EPO / Communicating Astrobiology Related to 3 Themes Above

3. Schedule for Putting Up Your Poster

  • Display your poster in theme group schedules as indicated above.
  • Theme areas for posters will be labeled in the poster display room
  • Put your poster up in the specific space to match your poster (abstract) number.

Monday Poster Session

  • May be put up on Sunday (10 April) from 3 pmñ9 pm time period.
  • Alternative: Put up poster 7 am-8:30 am on Monday (11 April)

Tuesday Poster Session

    • Put up poster 7 am-8:45 am) on Tuesday (12 April)

Wednesday Poster Session, Plus Thursday Display Morning

    • Put up poster 7 am-8:45 am on Wednesday (13 April)
    • Keep these posters on display both Wednesday & Thursday

4. Schedule to Be With Your Poster

  • Be with your poster about 1 hour during afternoon “Poster Sessions,” which are scheduled at these times:

    Monday and Tuesday: from 4-6 pm
    Wednesday: from 4-5:30 pm
    Thursday theme posters are included in the Wednesday “Poster Session” display.

  • Be with your poster on your theme display day “Poster Session” at a time determined by your poster number, which will be up on the display board with your poster.

    Even numbers: 1st half of poster session &
    Odd numbers: 2nd half of poster session.

5. Schedule to Take Down Your Poster

Monday & Tuesday Display Groups

• Poster display area closes at 9 pm these 2 days. Staff then prepares poster area for next day's poster display.
• Take down your poster by 9 pm each of these display days. If you do not take your poster down by then, it is taken down by meeting staff and available for you next day at the Registration Desk.

Wednesday & Thursday Display Group

• Poster display area closes at 9 pm on Wednesday.
• Wednesday & Thursday posters may remain on display until Thursday, 12 noon, when meeting ends.
• You must take down your own poster. Any not removed by Thursday early afternoon will be discarded.

REQUIRED SPECIAL OVERVIEW POSTERS The 16 NAI Teams, 5 International Partners, 9 Focus Groups, plus 1 Working Group (identified on Abstract Submission page in pull-down in ìAffiliation to NAIî section) are each required to submit 1 overview poster representing their activities.

a. Select ì Overview Abstract î when submitting these poster abstracts to identify them as a group poster.

b. Possible overview poster topics include:

•  Latest overview of Team research and/or education activities
•  Topics concerning Group/Team and NAI
• Team input to NASA missions

c. These posters will be on display throughout the meeting in an identified central location during the meeting.

d. Schedule: Put up these posters on Sunday (3-9 pm) or Monday by 8:30 am.
