Diana Blaney studies the geochemical evolution of Mars, Io, and Europa. As a scientist-engineer, she consults on numerous projects concerning Mars and other planetary body exploration. In particular, she is responsible for the Mini-TES (Thermal Emission Spectrometer) on the Mars rover, which sees infrared radiation emitted by objects. Blaney is responsible for interpreting the data from the Mini-TES (similar to the TES on the Mars Global Surveyor) and will help us determine from afar the mineral composition of Martian surface features and select specific rocks and soils to further investigate in detail.
